Interview

1) When we look at your pieces, what do we see in each of them? What is your main characteristic as a designer?

I believe that every design project symbolizes a part of a process, of historical and cultural baggage, together with the moment we are living in and the needs of the market. My main characteristic is to seek viable, structural and aesthetic solutions for the development of the DNA of Brazilian design.

2) What are your main inspirations when starting a new project?

I synthesized a method that I call MANAH - Affective Memory, Nature, Architecture and Hybrid. These are my sources of inspiration.

3) In a project, which phase do you like the most?

The richest part of the process, for me, is the moment of creation. In addition, I also have a enchantment to see the piece being born in the factory.

4) For you, what are the main differentials of Brazilian design?

Our DNA involves a lot the industrial process in connection with the artisanal. I believe we have a lot of amazing references still to explore. Brazil is very rich, full of culture and with a unique local folklore.

5) Salva uses one of the most noble, durable and timeless raw materials in its products: leather. Tell us a little about what it's like to work applying this material to your pieces.

Leather is a lively material, very noble and with an incredible personality, which allows us to create different types of applications and sewing shapes. I see that there is enormous potential for innovation in relation to this material. Every time I create a new piece I create a unique character and leather provides that.

6) A life with more design is...

a life with purpose and fulfillment.
