Interview

1) When we look at your pieces, what do we see in each of them? What is your main characteristic as a designer?

I see my pieces as the materialization of my thoughts, important as children that will last for a long time at the service of their users, this importance is given from the first moment in the project to the most advanced phases of materialization and revision of the products, where every millimeter has an influence on the final result, and the sum of these measurement units create a whole that I believe will bring harmony and prosperity to the spaces they will compose. My lifestyle revolves around new ideas, problem solving and the creation of new aesthetic languages, where my main characteristic is the vigor and persistence in the search for the unique through objects studied in depth also in ergonomics, functionality and industrial intelligence always with look very focused on harmonious and coherent proportions, to originate collections of desire, sensitive in a global scope.

2) What are your main inspirations when starting a new project?

I always try to work in the purest way possible at first, my state of mind has a very strong relationship with my creative productivity, so I look for inspirations in this direction such as instrumental music, electronic sounds and abstract elements present in architecture, art, landscapes and culture, that can be lived intensely through travel and leisure, the metabolism of these experiences helps me in the search for new paths for projects.

3) In a project, which phase do you like the most?

I have a huge passion for the industry which I consider an important laboratory for experimentation and exchange of ideas and experiences. The phase that I love the most is product development, where prototypes are worked on, at this stage I can express my flexibility as a designer, I consider this phase of metamorphosis and transition in which drawings and mockups begin their trajectory to become tangible. So that's where I can explore new solutions without any limitations and think about the future of the project and new solutions outside the initially planned.

4) For you, what are the main differentials of Brazilian design?

Brazilian design is varied, flexible and open to new solutions, experimentation in the search for the new, encouraged by creatives and dynamic entrepreneurs, without limits and ready to absorb ambitious ideas from designers, without fear of making mistakes, a field with countless styles, complex and rich. As Brazilian designers we have the opportunity to explore superior natural raw materials such as local wood and leather, certified and lovingly produced, materials with a wide range of variations present in abundance in our nation.

5) Salva uses one of the most noble, durable and timeless raw materials in its products: leather. Tell us a little about what it's like to work applying this material to your pieces.

Leather is a fascinating raw material that elevates shapes, perceived value and provides superior durability to my projects, it is a robust and durable material that is easy to maintain for customers. This material is a living organism that accompanies us in our trajectory over the years reflecting and gradually acquiring a personal aspect, so working on predominant leather projects is always a great challenge, which provides versatility, can be used as a coating, in a structural way. , molded and etc… This variety in the form of use is something that encourages me to seek new solutions.

6) A life with more design is...

more comfortable, interesting, pleasurable and beautiful.
